這些動詞均含“積聚，聚集，積累”之意。
accumulate幾乎可用于指任何事物量的增加，側(cè)重連續(xù)不斷地，一點一滴地聚積。
amass著重大量地積聚，尤指對如金錢、珠寶等有價值東西的大量積聚。
collect普通用詞，多用于指物，側(cè)重指有區(qū)別地作選擇或有安排有計劃地把零散物集中起來。
gather普通用詞，指人或物或抽象事物都可用。側(cè)重于圍繞一個中心的集合、聚集。
heap主要指把沙、石、煤、草等堆高，不強調(diào)整齊。
pile著重指比較整齊地把東西堆積在一起。

這些動詞均含“推斷”之意。
infer指從已提供的論據(jù)或從已接受的前提出發(fā)而推斷出的結(jié)論。
deduce指有充分根據(jù)的推論，也指邏輯學上的演繹。
conclude指得出符合邏輯的結(jié)論。
gather指從聽到的情況推測、判定。
judge多指經(jīng)過仔細鑒定或評價之后作出決斷。
