stop的用法

(1)stop doing sth. 意為“停止做某事”，doing是stop的賓語，是要停止的動作。例如：

The four boys stopped talking when they saw me.

那四個男孩一見我就停止了講話。

(2)stop to do sth. 意為“停下來開始做某事”，to do 是stop 的狀語，表示目的，指要開始做的事情。例如：

The four boys stopped to talk to me when they saw me.

那四個男孩一看到我就停下來和我講話。

(3)stop …from doing sth. 意為“阻止……做某事”，from可以省略。例如：

We must stop him from going to swim in the river.

我們必須阻止他去河里游泳。

This behaviour must stop ─ do I make myself clear?

這種行為必須停止——我講清楚了吧？

If I had the choice, I would stop working tomorrow.

如果讓我選擇，我明天就停止工作。

I want to go and you can't stop me.

我要走，你攔不住我。

You can't stop people from saying what they think.
