something的用法

一、something用作不定代詞

1.表示“聊以自慰的事”、“有價值的事物”的意思。例：

It’s something to have a job at all these days.

現(xiàn)在能找到一份工作就算不錯了。

At least we didn’t lose any money.That’s something!

至少我們并未損失什么錢，那已值得慶幸了！

2.表示“某種令人不快的事情”。例：

She must be up to something.

她一定在搞什么鬼花招。

There is something in the word.

好像要發(fā)生什么事情。

3.表示“一些吃的喝的東西”的意思。例：

A little something with his meals was an absolute necessity to him.

就餐時少許喝點酒對他來說是絕不可少的。

You must be thirsty;are you sure I can’t offer you something？

你一定是口渴了，你真的不需要我給你弄點什么喝的嗎？

4.表示“實有之物”的意思。例：

You can’t get something for nothing.

你不可能不花力氣坐享其成。

Some people will never learn that you can’t get something for nothing.

5.表示模糊的概念。例：

The bag was six pounds something.

二、something用作名詞

1.相當于somebody,意為“重要的人物”。例：

She thinks she’s something since she won the beauty contest.

選美比賽得了獎，她就自以為了不起了。

She acts as if she were something since she won the prize.

自從獲獎以來她就表現(xiàn)得自命不凡了。

2.表示“重要的事物”。例：

These paintings were really something.

這些畫確實出色。

3.表示“少量”、“一些”、“部分”。例：

It is customary to give something to the porter.

1.something用作副詞，表示“幾分”、“有點”、“稍微”、“大約”的意思。例：

2.something like表示“幾分像”、“有點像”、“大約”的意思。例：

四、與something的固定搭配，表示各種特殊意思

1.make something of表示“使有用”、“使成為有用的人”、“把……當作了不得的事”的意思。例：

When girls see another girl with a boy,they often try to make something of it.

姑娘們看到有誰跟小伙子在一起，常會小題大做一番的。

2.make something of oneself表示“獲得成功”的意思。例：

He’s a clever boy—I hope he’ll make something of himself.

3.make something out of表示“因……而挑起對抗”的意思。例：

4.or something表示“諸如此類的什么”的意思。例：
