perhaps的基本意思是“或許,可能,大概”,表示說話人對數(shù)量、質(zhì)量、價值等大概的估計(jì),常用于對某人〔事〕有疑問或有可能但不肯定的場合,所表示的可能性大致對半。
perhaps可修飾動態(tài)動詞、靜態(tài)動詞、系表結(jié)構(gòu)、全句。perhaps在句中位于實(shí)義動詞前,助、系、情態(tài)動詞之后。perhaps也可用于句首或句尾,用于句首或句末有時可指有禮貌地提出請求或提供幫助等。
