系動詞亦稱連系動詞（Link Verb），作為系動詞，它本身有詞義，但不能單獨用作謂語，后邊必須跟表語（亦稱補語），構(gòu)成系表結(jié)構(gòu)說明主語的狀況、性質(zhì)、特征等情況。系動詞后不可接副詞，接的是形容詞。大致分六種：

1. 狀態(tài)系動詞

用來表示主語狀態(tài)，只有be一詞，例如：

He is a teacher. 他是一名教師。（is與補足語一起說明主語的身份。）

I am fine.

The earth is as round as a ball. 地球像球一樣圓

2. 持續(xù)系動詞

用來表示主語繼續(xù)或保持一種狀況或態(tài)度，主要有keep, rest, remain, stay, lie, stand,

He always kept silent at meeting. 他開會時總保持沉默。

This matter rests a mystery. 此事仍是一個謎。

Andersen remained single all his life

After his election to a high office, he remained modest. 在被選為高級領(lǐng)導干部之后他仍然謙虛。

The weather has stayed hot recently. 最近天氣一直很熱。

The shop stays open till seven o'clock. 那家商店一直營業(yè)到7點

What I ate lies heavy on my stomach. 我吃下的東西滯留在胃里。

The door stood open. 門開著。

3. 表像系動詞

用來表示"看起來像"這一概念，主要有seem, appear, look, “看起來、顯得”seem/ appear+(to be ) adj/ n

He seems (to be) very sad. 他看起來很傷心。

She seemed （to be ） an honest woman. 她看上去是個老實人。

He seemed ( to be ) interested in the book.

She seems (to be) a bit nervous.

It appears (to be )a true story. 這似乎是個真實的故事。

He appeared (to be) discouraged.

He looks tired. 他看起來很累。

He looked(看起來) angry/ sad/ happy.

He looked（看著）angrily/ sadly/ happily at me. (look 實意動詞)

The soup looked, smelt and tasted good

4. 感官系動詞

感官系動詞主要有feel, smell, sound, taste、look (注意：此時不能用被動語態(tài))

Ice always feels cold to us. 對我們來說冰摸起來總是冷的。

The box feels strong. 這箱子摸起來很結(jié)實

This flower smells very sweet. 這朵花聞起來很香。

Her idea sounded great. 她的主意聽起來很不錯。

The newly-invented soft drinking tastes quite unique.

He doesn't look well (adj. )

5. 變化系動詞

這些系動詞表示主語變成什么樣，變化系動詞主要有become, grow,get, turn, come, run. go,fall（asleep）

He became mad after that. 自那之后，他瘋了。

She grew rich within a short time. 她沒多長時間就富了。

The fox may grow grey, but never good. 狐貍會變老，但不會變好。（諺語）

It was growing dark. 天色漸漸暗下來。

The weather gets warmer and the days get longer in spring. 春天天氣越來越暖和，白天越來越長。

She got angry with her son.

He turned doctor in 1980. (doctor前不用冠詞)

Twenty years later, he turned teacher. (teacher前不用冠詞)

Everything will come all right in the end. 最終一切都會變好的

Nothing goes wrong

Eggs can go bad easily in summer. 夏季，雞蛋容易變壞

His horse fell lame.他的馬瘸了。

He has suddenly fallen ill.

The child fell asleep while he was doing his homework. 孩子在做作業(yè)時睡著了

6. 終止系動詞

表示主語已終止動作，主要有prove, turn out, 表達"證實"，"變成"之意 (注意, 此時不能用被動語態(tài)。)sth prove (to be)+adj./n

The rumor proved false. 這謠言證實有假。

The search proved difficult. 搜查證實很難。

His plan turned out a success. 他的計劃終于成功了。（turn out表終止性結(jié)果）

Things worked out quite well . 事情的結(jié)堅果很不錯。

Einstein's theory proved (to be) right. 愛因斯坦的相對論被證實是正確的。

Her words proved (to be) true.
