四級(jí)詞匯講解:

本句的主干是it's up to you。even though 引導(dǎo)讓步狀語從句。

plug意為“堵住”。如:

The tube gets plugged sometimes.這管子有時(shí)會(huì)堵塞。

本句中的plug a beak又可以說成plug up a leak，意為“堵塞漏洞”。

stuck為stick的過去式，stick in為固定短語，意為“堅(jiān)持;陷在(困境之中)”。如:

It stuck in my throat to have to accept charity from them.我不得不接受他們的施舍，此事令我耿耿于懷。

讓步狀語從句是英語中的九大狀語從句之一，主要用來表示讓步關(guān)系，即“雖然，盡管，即使”等概念。讓步狀語從句的引導(dǎo)詞包括:

however無論怎樣whatever無論什么

whoever/whomever無論誰whichever無論哪個(gè)

whenever無論何時(shí) wherever無論哪里

whether是否 even if/though即使

no matter ( who/what/where/whem/how)無論(誰/什么/哪里/何時(shí)/怎樣)

※ 由although和though引導(dǎo)的讓步狀語從句。though和although都表示“雖然，縱然”之意，在一般情況下可以互換使用。在口語中，though使用較頻繁，although比though正式，二者都可與yet, still或nevertheless連用，但不能與but連用。如:

l)Though it is true that one must not live in the past, it is important to use the past to learnfrom his mistakes.盡管人的確不該生活在過去，但從過去的錯(cuò)誤中汲取教訓(xùn)卻是重要的。

2) Although/Though he is very old, ( yet ) he is quite strong.他雖然年紀(jì)大了，身體卻還很健壯。

※ 由as和though引導(dǎo)的讓步狀語從句。as引導(dǎo)的讓步狀語從句必須以部分倒裝的形式出現(xiàn)，倒裝的部分可以是表語、狀語或動(dòng)詞原形。though有時(shí)也用于這樣的結(jié)構(gòu)中，但although不可以這樣用。如:

Hard as/though he works，he makes little progress.(=Though he works hard，he makes littleprogress.)盡管他學(xué)習(xí)很努力，但幾乎沒取得什么進(jìn)步。

※ 由"no matter+疑問詞或疑問詞+后綴ever”引導(dǎo)的讓步狀語從句。

注意，no matter what=whatever, no matter who=whoever, no matter when= whenever, nomatter where=wherever, no matter which=whichever, no matter

how=however。如:

No matter what you do，do with your might.(=Whatever you do，do with your might.)無論你做什么，都要盡力而為。

※ 由ever if/even though引導(dǎo)的讓步狀語從句。如:

We'll make a trip even though the weather is bad.即使天氣不好，我們也要去旅行。

※ 由whether...or引導(dǎo)的讓步狀語從句。如:

Whether you believe it or not, it is true.信不信由你，這確實(shí)是真的。
